Did you notice what “Worminator” rhymes with? If you did, take the original story and cover it in dirt and worms. Then, my friend, you will have the fantastically explosive, downright gritty world inhabited by the Worminator.
Think of it kind of like the original Duke Nukem. A two-dimensional post-apocalyptic world which crumbles and falls apart around you. Bridges collapse, nuclear explosions go off, rocket launchers are fired. Basically, anarchy rules and you’re right in the middle of it.
Estimated at taking over 500 hours to complete, the work done is clearly evident. From the different weapons, their types of fire, the individual enemy types and the increasing amount of blood dripping off the Worminator as the hits keep on coming. The half-dozen or so levels are rich and complex with many individual puzzles ranging from simple jumping over gaps to obtaining key passes in order to progress. This is no Sunday lunch platformer. This game is demanding, tough and ultimately rewarding.
A game like this, with as much blood, sweat and tears obviously poured into it, has not been seen for a while. The sheer uniqueness of the world and the complete devotion to the tiniest details make this, absolutely not one to miss.
