While not perfect, this game provides a fairly accurate recreation of the original Sonic.
The makers of the absolutely awful Sonic Pinball Zone have redeemed themselves with this offering: Sonic The Hedgehog Turbo.
In the extremely long (but skippable) opening scene, you find that Sonic has come back from holidays. It seems deserving, since he's saved the world so many times before. Unfortunately, as soon as he returns, it's back to business as the Chaos Emeralds have all been stolen. Fortunately, there is a solution. Sonic can save the world again by collecting the Turbo Rings.
Although the game doesn't produce quite the speed of the original - and omits the loops(!) - the game is still quite accurate, as far as a fan game can go. That's not to say its perfect or without flaws. It certainly has those. But as far as Sonic games go? You could do worse than admit you like this.
Pretty good but I'll keep it now!
